Welcome to the European Knotweed Control Network

Japanese knotweed (Reynoutria japonica) is probably the worst weed in Europe causing serious damage to both the natural and the built environment having serious impacts on biodiversity and economies alike. It is believed that knotweed costs European nations hundreds of millions of euro each year and there is little coordination of efforts across the region.

The European Knotweed Control Network consists of knotweed experts in Europe and has the stated goal to enable an intensive exchange of knowledge and experience on methods and practices to control knotweed. The coordination of activities against knotweed ensures that resources are used efficiently by reducing duplication of work and by catalysing innovation.
